Hamster Free Burning Studio Editor's Review

I've been using Nero Burnig Rom for a long time, and I have to say that works great overall. However, years after years it has grown to a very complex suite with all kinds of tools and features that I seldom use. Then, I've started using the Lite version of Nero witch has most of the features removed, but still enough for what I needed. If you never heard of it, it's called Nero 9 Lite and it's free. However, this free version of Nero is quite annoying: comes with the Ask Toolbar, prompts you to buy the full version and so on. Not long ago, I've discovered a cute burning software which kept my attention even if it's in beta phase - Hamster Free Burning Studio.

Hamster Free Burning Studio is a lightweight CD, DVD and Blu-ray burning application which offers simple, great looking and straight forward interface. It's free and does the most popular operations that we use most often: data burning, backup copying, creating music disks, cloning DVDs, CDs or BluRay. What's great about it, it can automatically identify the type of disc inserted into tray and evaluates the most suitable burning speed. Let's see how it works.

In case you want to burn a CD or a DVD, click the "Data CD/DVD" button and then add your files and folder which you want to burn or specify an ISO file which you want to burn to disc. In here you can also open an earlier saved project (or save the current one) or Erase the disk. Additionally, you can see drive-related information at the left side of the window with option such as: write speed (in case you want to specify the disc writing speed manually), volume label, erase options and so on. At the bottom of the window, you can select the device in case you have multiple drives. After that, simple click burning-imaged button to start writing process.

Pluses: multiple color schemes; BluRay support; free; eye-candy interface; very ease to use;

Drawbacks / flaws: Since this application is in its beta phase, some of its features are disabled: Media Studio and Disc Backup.

In conclusion: An attractive application which offers friendly user interface to Burn CD, DVD, Blu-Ray Discs. I like it and I will look forward on the development progress.
